Phew – that took some doing…..

I normally don’t remake the projects that we do – usually because I am relatively happy with them the first time around.  I may make them again with different papers, colours or general modifications but usually following a class. This time, however, I have really struggled. I had a clear idea of what I wanted in my head and when I tried to commit it to card stock it just didn’t  come out right.  I even finished the project but did not like it and didn’t think you girls would either.  It seemed right then to step away from it.

Last night I went to the theatre with my youngest son and my brother in law to see Blood Brothers with Marti Pellow – highly recommend it although Marti Pellow looks like a good feed wouldn’t do him any harm!

This morning I got up and decided to find a different project for the monthly club until my Dad wandered through to see what I was up to.  I showed him my disastrous project. “Hm” was his initial response…’The colours are wrong and it should be a Mother’s Day card” was what he said….”I dont make Mothers Days Cards” I told him “not since…you know..well I have no real need of them anymore…” I mumbled.  “Shouldn’t stop you making them and you should be making them” was his final word on it. I took another look and wondered how I would do it differently but as a Mothers Day Card…’s what I eventually came up with, not one but two projects….and I am delighted with both!

Mothers Day love....
Mothers Day love….

This is a triple easel card – wanted to make one of these for ages – and it uses the Artisan Elements kit, More Amour (yes – I know – but I just love the freshness that comes with these delightful papers!) and Pool Party card stock.  This is the main project for the Stampdelicious by stamp kit which starts shipping beginning of March….not to late to get yours….. here’s a closer look….

And this second card – although I have stamped the Mothers Day sentiment, would be just as lovely with Happy Birthday on it….image0208So lots of flowers this time round….some already made and some fussy cut!  This card uses Bashful Blue which I havent used for ages……

Okay so thats the sneak peeks over with for this month….

Until next time, remember to stamp your place in the world! XXX

Another Quickie…

Another quickie as I am finishing the projects for Stampdelicious by Stampat the moment but I wanted to share a couple of  previous vintagey projects with you….

Lots of LoveThis is a card I made for MB, I am not terribly romantic I am afraid and so this year I wanted something that wasnt covered in red and hearts would still convey they right message….I am a fiend for the antiquey, vintagey, distressed look – I suspect it will be me in another 25 years: an antique, definitely  a vintage and totally distressed!

This next card – whilst not being Stampin Up ( the previous one was totally SU) is going down in my favourites of all time makes….My youngest son informed me late friday afternoon that he needed a card the next day as he was going to a girls party.  I am always up for a challenge and love making the really girly cards every once in a while….This is what I made….and yes that means I have made three very girly ones in a little over a week – A Miracle for me!

image0202I confess there is some Stampin’ Up! ibbon on there – the ribbon is Rich Razzlebery taffeta and is lovely to work with!

Okay – I will be giving another sneak peak in  the next day or so, so if you havent ordered your Stampdelicious by Stamp kit just yet – dont delay get it booked today (see what I did there? a little rhyme? okay I know, my jokes get no better!)  but seriously, all kits need to be booked and paid for by Friday 22nd this month ( sorry it’s so early – its a terrible short month) so they can be dispatched first week in March.  Not sure what it’s all about?  here’s a quick reminder…. Just a non Stampin’ Up! quickie…..

Hey Girls,

I know that you will understand what I mean when I say that sometimes you have to step away form something to come back to it….Well, as much as I love Stampin’ Up! and all the fabulous products, sometimes I need to use other things to come back to Stampin’ Up! refreshed….so I thought I would just share a couple of pics of what else I have been making recently….image0181

This first one is a card I made for my good friend Moni – it was her birthday at the beginning of the week – Happy Birthday Moni!!!! – I used my Distress ink pens and water to illustrate this card – a technique I have been practicing for a little while – it gives a fabulous water colour effect. The Lace is from the Artisan Embellishments kit from SU.

image0201Another card using the Distress ink Pens – this card has been snaffled by another good friend of mine – Susan Moffatt – who says that I cannot get rid of or sell this card as I have to give it to her for her birthday when it comes around – mind you she forgets that I am diabolical with birthday dates and she will be reminding me after the date that I have missed her birthday…unless she reads this and texts me the details….AGAIN!  sorry Susan you know what I am like!

Okay – enough playing with my toys – back to the Job in hand and I now have a couple of lovely ideas for Stampin’ Up! projects for you….so until next time…remember to stamp your place in the world! xxx

Some old…and some New!!!!

What a funny old time we are having with the weather?!!! one day it is fine, the sun is splitting the trees all be it that it is cold and the next it is howling a gale and the snow is coating the ground!   We have managed a day in the garden today – as you know we recently moved house and the garden, whilst lovely, is tired and in need of rejuvenation….a bit like me I suppose!  Well this morning the sun was splitting the trees but it was bitterly cold. We got ourselves wrapped up and headed out tools in the wheel barrow and managed to clear a path, dig the ivy out and discover there were concrete slabs underneath all the leaves and dead plants!  there are lots of plants we have never seen before and dont have a clue what they are but it is on its way to being a delightful garden although still a long way to go…

Having eventually got very cold – too cold to still be out there – we came in and I decided it was time for a bit of crafting….I wanted to make some purely SU bits to show you and whilst looking some items out I came across a couple of items I may not have shared with you previously so here come some pictures….

This first project was my swap for convention in Frankfurt. I wanted something totally different for this swap. I took a Very Vanilla envelope, stamped it with French Foliage, Spritzed it with Gold Glow Spritzing Smooch, added hand rolled flowers and vellum butterflies, then gave three tags the same treatment adding some hand coloured (using refillers) seam binding to the tops and securing with vintage safety pins. I was so pleased with the way these came out I didnt want to swap them!

Bordering on Romance
Bordering on Romance

This next project is one I did with my lovely class of girls. This is a handbag sized note wallet.

Bordering on Romance

It has room for adding photographs and notes….

Bordering on Romance

It was hand coloured in and had a really delicate quality about it – the Bordering on Romance Stamp set is so very feminine!

Bordering on Romance

We used my favourite but now retired Concord Crush card stock and teamed it with Lucky Limeade card stock and Tangerine Tango spotted ribbon and  Labels Collection framelits for a real eye popping design.

Bordering on Romance

It was a quite simple to make and is really lovely to pull out when you need to make a note of something!

Bloomin Marvelous

Okay….Onto tonights makes…This first one – the deign is owed to my pal Margaret Ann who showed me how to create the basic note book template. It is made using the Comfort Cafe papers, Baja Breeze Card Stock and the rather gorgeous Bloomin’ Marvellous stamp set – this is, of course, FREE right now in Sale a Bration with a qualifying order (as you know a qualifying order is an order for £45 from any current Stampin Up catalogue) and the lovely Island Indigo satin ribbon from the Sycamore Street ribbon and button collection which is also FREE right now in Sale a Bration with a qualifying order (as you know a qualifying order is an order for £45 from any current Stampin Up catalogue).

Bloomin Marvelous

The picture is not the greatest and I apologise…..

Bloomin Marvelous

But the design features a lovely pocket for holding things,

Bloomin Marvelous

And when it is opened up, it features lots of areas to pop those favourite pictures and still has room for some journaling if you wish!
